Nexus One: Full Spec Leaked, January 5th release for invites only?

Up until this morning, we've seen plenty of photos, a couple of videos, but details on Nexus One's spec was still scarce. Up until now. Engadget has gotten their paws on the full Nexus One spec and new details on the release date and how one would go about obtaining the device on that day.
Apparently, the folks that will be able to purchase the Nexus One on January 5th would be "invite-only". We don't know how's thats gonna work, but all we know is that Google will be doing the inviting. In addition, it is said in the leaked memo that T-Mobile will also be selling the phone directly some point in the future.

Damn, I wish this was a VZW phone. I held off on the Droid since there were all these Snapdragon rumors going around, now I'm wondering if I should just wait a little more to see if HTC brings a similar model to VZW...

Id love an 'invite' still a loyal g1 user. My contract upgrade is boxing day next year....fingers crossed For a nexus one as a late present!
Only wish it was available thru Verizon....guess we will have to wait our turn...shame!
Got my hands on one last night and its unbelievable. SOOOOO happy its a t-mo phone. Been looking for an real upgrade to my G1 and this is it. The screen is HUGE and beautiful. I'm gonna love android 2.1.

With all the Nexus One talk does that mean that the HTC Passion/Dragon is not coming to Verizon in the near future. Didn't like the Droid so been waiting for the HTC mega phone. Have my hopes been dashed?

Just an amazing phone, but the same problem of a lower memory to install aplications. I can't understand why the gadgets can't be installed in the memory card.
