Google gives Nexus Ones away at TED
Turns out that for the 1500 or so attendees ($6000 a ticket) at TED yesterday, each and everyone of them got a Nexus One from Google. Being that most of the attendees are influential, this may be a really smart move by Google.

why do they give away such a huge amount of devices for FREE and refuse (delay) to sell their product and gain money from many customers around the world craving for their nexus one !
I hope the free ones they got work better than the defective $550 beta-paperweights we purchased
I don't discount that others are having troubles with their N1s, but I ordered mine engraved last week and got it the very next day. Paid full price.
And it's been working quite well on both WiFi and on T-mobile since. If there are any major problems with it, it's the coverage available via T-mobile.
The only minor problem I have with it, is *sometimes* when I pull it from the dock, the touchscreen doesn't respond properly -- but only after it's been in the dock. To fix, I hit the button to sleep it and wake it back up again and it's fine.
I suppose I should clarify that in saying coverage available via T-mobile, I'm not referring to issues connecting to 3G. That's pretty much working fine for me. I meant their coverage in general, regardless of phone used, is not very far reaching.
