Nexus One Early Termination Fee Slashed

AuthorJoey Smith | DateTuesday, February 9, 2010 at 01:54PM | Comment6 Comments

After a recent FCC Inquiry, Google has slashed its early termination fee on the Nexus One from $350 to $150. and the $250 fee for existing T-Mobile customers upgrading to the phone was lowered to $50.  Way to go Google this is awesome news for all of us that have purchased the Nexus One.  The only catch is the $200 fee from T-Mobile for early termination is still applicable, but at least they are helping out the unhappy customers a little bit.

Lemme make sure I understand this, 'cause your post is a little unclear.

Google ETF for Nexus One owners is slashed. T-Mobile ETF is still applicable.

Previous T-Mobile subscribers formerly had to pay $250 to get the Nexus One, but now the price is only $50.

Correct?

So I'm still confused. Currently I pay 64 a month for unlimited web, text and 450 or 500 anytime minutes. If I were to upgrade to a two year contract so that I can get nexus one for 50 bucks do I have to also upgrade my plan to 80 a month or can I still keep the 64 a month rate for contract length of 2 years?

Also confused... the Nexus One I expect to have delivered tomorrow, that I just paid over $500 for... since I am already in a contract with Tmobile I will have to pay them $50 to use this phone? What if I wait until the contract expires? I'm not changing plans, and I have no plans to leave tmobile. Seriously, I thought the reason we wanted phones like this in the US was to get away from all this being locked to a provider stuff.

I was told I could get the phone at sign up for 179.00. Never happened.
You can not get straight answers from Tmobile or HTC/Google
Dishonest customer care center.
